Church Planting, Chile
Benja leads a team that is planting a new Anglican church in the north area of the City. One of their supporting churches is the church led by Cristobal Ceron in Santiago. The new congregation, Jesús el Camino (Jesus the Way) Church, has now been meeting for Sunday services for just over two years. Their goal is to share the Good News of Jesus with people in five relatively new (the oldest is about 12 years old) housing estates in the area. Since March last year Covid-19 restrictions have meant they have had all their meetings online with few opportunities for direct local evangelism. However, they were able to show God´s love in a practical way by giving food parcels to families facing difficulties due to the pandemic. They were also encouraged by a few new people joining their online services and by an in depth study of Mark´s Gospel that saw everyone grow in their knowledge of and relationship with God. This year a new family, Nicolas and Michelle with Sofia (5) and Amaya (1)) will be joining them from Santiago. Nicolas is a final year student at the CEP (Centro de estudios pastorales, the Anglican seminary in Chile and will work alongside Benja in the pastoral team.
Pray: give thanks for God´s encouragements in a diffcult year last year: Pray for opportunities to continue to get to know new neighbours and share the Gospel with them: Abi (6) moves up to year 1 at school this year and Matias (4) begins pre-school: Pray for Nicolas and his family as they adapt to a new city and begin work with Jesus the Way church.
